They are colors that are created when 2 primary colors are combined. They are Orange, Green, and violet
What are tertiary colors? Name them?
They are colors created when a secondary and a primary color mixes. They are red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet, and red-violet.

What are neutral colors? How can they be created?
They are colors that have very low saturation.
How can a neutral color help a design?
They help put focus on other colors or serve to tone down overpowering colors
What are complementary colors? Name them?
Colors positioned opposite of each other. They are Red/green orange/blue and yellow/violet
What is color value?
Lightness or Darkness of a hue
What is a shade?
Low-value colors produced when you add black to a color
What is a tint?
High-value colors produced when you add white to a color.
What is saturation/intensity?
Brightness of a color
What happens when you mix complementary colors together?
You increase their intensity
Describe color harmony?
Some pleasing to the eye that creates an inner sense of order.
What is a color scheme?
Used to create style and appeal.
Describe a monochromatic color scheme?
A scheme that uses one color. It looks clean and elegant.
Describe an analogous color scheme?
Uses 3 colors that are adjacent to each other on the color w
Describe a complementary color scheme?
Uses 2 colors opposite to each other on the color wheel.
Describe a split-complementary color scheme?
Uses a color and 2 adjacent colors to its complement
Describe a triadic color scheme?
It uses 3 colors equally spaced on the color wheel
What colors are considered to be warm colors?
They are yellow, orange, and red. Colors found in the sun.
Describe a warm color scheme?
They are bold and energetic. Used to make something appear as if it's popping out.

What colors are considered to be cool colors?

Review Week 6

What is the pen tool used for?
It is used for making abstract shapes, and is good for tracing a design.

How can you manipulate a path/line in Illustrator? Discuss the use of the white arrow tool, pen+, pen-, and convert too.
You use the pen+ tool to create anchor points, and then you can manipulate the anchor points to your liking.

An understanding the elements and principles of graphic design

What is the difference between elements and principles?
Elements-Things you add to a design
Principle- Tells you how to organize the objects

Name the six (6) elements of design.
Line shape space texture value color

What can lines aid in, when alone or combined with  other lines or shapes?
readability and message of a design

Which lines suggest a feeling of rest? Why do you think?
Horizontal lines because of their relation to gravity.

Vertical lines communicate a feeling of what? Why do you think?
They suggest a feeling of loftiness because the suggest an overpowering grandeur

What lines suggest a feeling of movement? Why do you think?
Horizontal lines because they are more unstable relation to gravity

Soft, shallow curved lines suggest what? Why do you think?
They suggest comfort, safety, or relaxation because they are not straight which creates a feeling of grandeur

These lines suggest confusion and turbulence? Why do you think?
Deep acute curved alines

What element defines a specific area of space?
shape

What is the difference between two dimensional shapes and three dimensional shapes?
There is depth in 3 dimensional shapes

Describe the difference between geometric shapes and organic shapes?
Geometrical are usually symmetrical shapes, however organic shapes are more abstract and natural

What are abstract shapes?
Theyare stylized or simplified versions of natural shapes

Which basic shape projects an attitude of honesty or equality?
Squares, triangles, and circles

What do triangles suggest?
It suggests action and stability

Circles convey feelings of what?
protection

Describe positive space and negative space?
Positive – Area which contains all of the elements you have added ito your deisgn.
Negetive – Shapes around and between those objects and elements and gives a place for the eyes to rest

What is texture?
actual surface of a design with the reader actually being able to feel the texture of the paper and materuals in the printed design

Incorporating texture into a design can help do what?
It will help create a feeling of richness and depth

What is value?
Degree of light and dark in a design. It’s the contrast between black and white

What is another name for value?
Tone

What can the element of color do when incorporated into a design?
