Vocabulary

target audience: The people who the message is being conveyed to.
message: What you are trying to advertise or explain.
work ethic: Principle that hard work will reward you.
employability skills: Skills that you need to get a job.
20/20 Rule: Every 20 minutes you need to look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This is important so you maintain your vision.
Right-To-Know Laws: An employer is required to inform you about an hazards that may occur during work.

icon: A painting used to represent something.
vector-based graphics: Image that uses lines and curves to create a picture.
specifications of a project: Something that states what you should involve or how you should do your project.
dialog box: Box that is used to communicate between a person and a machine.
palette: A board that holds your tools and colors.

guidelines: Set of rules or directions which the author i supposed to follow.
extensions: Something that is added onto the graphic.
contextual menu: A menu that appears on the screen with a set of available options when you right click
clipping mask: A device used to convert the picture so everything outside a certain space is deleted.

hue: A color itself.
primary colors: colors that can't be created by mixing other colors. Blue Red Yellow
secondary colors: colors that are created by mixing 2 primary colors. Purple Orange Green
tertiary colors: colors created by mixing a primary and secondary colors.
neutral colors: colors with very low saturation. Brown Gray 

continuous tone image: It is a picture that has a virtually unlimited amount of shades or colors.
resolution: The resolution is the clarity

file size: It is the size of a file. It is measured in kilobytes, megabytes, or gigabytes
typography: It is art utilizing fonts
typeface: Fonts 
serif: Curves at the end of letters to add a more decorative appearance.
body type: Fonts utilized for writing.
display type: Fonts utilized for advertisements and such.
reverse type: Type where background is a darker color and letters are white. 
point size: Size of letters

ligatures: A ligature is 2 or more letters combined into one character
ampersand: A typographical symbol used to designate a word 
small caps: Uppercase letters in smaller sizes.
lowercase: Smaller, non-capital letters
uppercase: Captal letters.

Flesh Left: Text aligned to the left.
Flesh Right: Text aligned to the right.
Centered: Text aligned to the middle. (formal)
Justified: ALl the lines are filled up. Aligned on left and right.
Type Family: Bold,Italic,Underline, etc.
Lining: Uniform height.
Non-Lining: Do not line up. May have different ascenders and descenders. 
Leading: Space between lines of text.
Margin: White space around the edges of your document.
Kerning: Adjusting space between individual characters.
Tracking: Adjusting the character spacings a whole (Paragraph,sentence, etc.).


Concept: Main idea. 
Final Product: End result, how we ultimately communicate to our audience.
Thumbnail: A quick sketch to express thoughts (small,generic)
 
Initial Cap: Larger, decorative capital letters. At the beginning of text or a paragraph.
